Have We Met Yet? I’m Scott Gilbert.

Far Horizons is an extremely personal endeavor. We have hundreds of partners around the world who support and guide us, but at the core, we are a small and mighty team. Many of you know us, as we get to know every traveler who joins our trips. It’s one of the reasons that our return rate is so high. For those of you who have yet to travel with us, we look forward to getting to know you! In the meantime, we invite you to learn a little more about each of us. Hi, I’m Scott Gilbert, Senior Destination Manager.

A Little Bit About Me:

I joined Far Horizons in 2022 after several years of designing bespoke luxury itineraries, but my journey in the travel industry started in 2018 as a tour guide in Thailand. Studying history in college sparked my love for different cultures, and ever since, I’ve been obsessed with exploring the world. For me, traveling is the privilege of seeing history come to life—witnessing stories of the past firsthand.

I’m an old soul, a die-hard Indianapolis Colts fan, and a wannabe chef who loves experimenting (results may vary). When I’m not working, you’ll find me traveling with friends, painting, getting lost in a good sci-fi book, or laughing too hard at stand-up comedy.

Why I Love What I Do:

I love working at Far Horizons! It combines my passion for travel with the chance to learn from our brilliant study leaders, guides, and travelers. Being on a small team means I get to contribute across the business, leading planning and sales, and even joining trips as tour manager. It’s incredibly rewarding to work with a team that values exploration and deep conversations, and to know I’m helping create lifelong memories for our travelers. It’s more than a job – it’s an exciting experience every day.

Far Horizons Trips that I have personally experienced:

American Southwest
In the Path of the Ancient Olmec
Capital Cities of the Ancient Maya
Eastern Türkiye*
Indonesia
Japan in Bloom
Mound Builders of the USA
North India
